    ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Malik Mumtaz, a correspondent of The News, Jang and Geo TV in North Waziristan was gunned down by unidentified men while returning to his home in Miranshah Wednesday.
According to Geo Television, Malik came under attack near Chashma Bridge. It was not immediately known if he was targeted because of his work. Some of his latest stories were about the anti-polio drive.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. His body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.
Malik was recently elected President of Miranshah Press Club.
International watchdogs rank Pakistan as one of the most dangerous places for journalists where 13 were killed last year.
