PESHAWAR: A fire broke out at the office of The Statesman in Peshawar Wednesday evening, gutting computers and other equipment. There was no loss of life.
The cause of the fire, that erupted around 8.30pm was said to be electrical short-circuiting. Fire fighters at the scene were trying to contain the fire. Siren wailing ambulances also arrived at the office, located in Bilal Town.
The staff members were quickly able to vacate the office. The Statesman belongs to the Mashriq Group of Newspapers.
As a result of the incident, chances of the newspaper appearing in the market Thursday morning looked bleak.
The Statesman office had also caught fire because of short-circuiting some two years ago but there was not much damage caused.
