ISLAMABAD: Deutsche Welle-Urdu has stopped its broadcast without citing any reason for it as it aired its last program Wednesday (Dec 31).
DW, is Germany’s international broadcaster and transmits news and information on shortwave, internet and satellite radio in 30 languages.
It has a satellite television service which is available in four languages.
“DW-Urdu stopped its radio program today after more than 50 years. We produced and presented the last program as a special broadcast,” Ismat Jabeen, a freelance editor for DW-Urdu, wrote on her Facebook page.
The DW website, however, continues publishing Urdu news on different topics including current affairs, sports, science and environment.
