Amir Mir ends brief stint at Dunya

ISLAMABAD: Amir Mir, one of Dunya Media Group’s major signings this season, has resigned after being with the organization for barely two months.

It has now been confirmed that Mir who had joined in as the project head of Roznama Dunya, an Urdu newspaper the group plans to publish soon, has quit over differences with the management.

The differences, some insiders say, surfaced following the appointment this month of senior columnist Nazir Naji as the newspaper’s group editor.

Amir is a brother of prominent television anchor Hamid Mir and Imran Mir, also a television journalist. He arrived at Dunya from The News where he was a deputy editor.

During his career Amir has been associated with a string of newspapers, magazines, news agencies and websites.

It was not immediately known if he would now be heading back to The News or would join some other organization.
