Journalist files FIR against Jehan Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Ahmed Latif, Magazine Editor of Urdu daily Jehan Pakistan in Islamabad has filed an FIR with the Kohsar Police Station against the paper’s management saying he was forced to resign at gun point by Manager HR and Operations.

In the FIR Latif says when he arrived at work on June 11, manager Talal Arshad was at the reception. “He asked me to come to a back room where he told me to resign.”

The FIR states that on Latif’s refusal to resign, the manager pulled out a pistol. This scared the magazine editor who had no option but to quit. There were two other men in the room, whom Latif did not know.

He was held in incommunicado for 30 minutes before being allowed to leave. The manager warned him of dire consequences if he tried to tell anyone about the incident.

Kohsar Police are investigating the case. No arrests have been made.

All does not seem well at the newspaper which is barely eight months old. Rana Tahir, the senior editor was fired after turning down a management’s request to sack staff.
