ISLAMABAD: Maria Kamal of The News has been chosen for the 2013 Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists Fellowship, a living memorial to the legacy of the second Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The 27-year-old Karachi-based journalist who works as an assistant editor has edited and written for the city, op-ed and business pages of the newspaper.
Maria, an MA in International Relations, English and Journalism, is among four journalists who will be arriving in New York prior to the opening of the 68th UN General Assembly in September and will report from the United Nations for 10 weeks.
