ISLAMABAD: Rana Qaisar, former resident editor of Daily Times and Pakistan Today has joined the Jehan Group of Publications that plans to bring out an Urdu language daily soon.
A senior journalist, Rana will be the newspaper’s editor reporting. Mahmood Sham heads the publication as the group editor with Rana Tahir the senior editor.
The new group of the University of Lahore also intends to launch an English-language newspaper and a television channel later.
Rana recently quit the Frontier Post as its resident editor after being with them for barely two and a half months. He cited personal reasons for leaving the struggling paper.
Before joining the Frontier Post at the start of July, he served as Pakistan Today’s resident editor in Islamabad and helped launch the paper.
He was also on the Daily Times launching team back in 2002 as the bureau chief. Later, in 2006 he became the resident editor.
Rana also worked for The Nation for 12 years and has had a taste of electronic media too with NewsOne TV.
