ISLAMABAD: The managers at DawnNews TV continue to wield the axe with reports that another three journalists are now on a new hit-list, among them Mateen Haider.
Insiders at the channel tell JournalismPakistan.com, that Mateen who covers the Prime Minister and the President beat, could be terminated at the start of July.
If that happens, he would be the second journalist to be sacked by DawnNews after Matiullah Jan, an anchor and deputy bureau chief, was axed this month.
The two other reporters facing possible termination are Atif Khan and Sajid Gondal. They too could go as early as July.
DawnNews, has been making ground for the arrival of a new team from Samaa. One member of that party – Iftikhar Shirazi – has already joined in while at least six others are to start from July 1.
Meanwhile, Azaz Syed another DawnNews reporter tendered his resignation this month to avoid termination. He was on an earlier hit-list of four that also included Mati, Editor North Mubashir Zaidi and reporter Abdul Shakoor Khan.
Zaidi and Shakoor, however are still with the channel.
