Nasir, Yousaf win Peshawar Press Club polls

PESHAWAR: Nasir Hussain and Yousaf Ali became the president and secretary respectively winning the annual elections of the Peshawar Press Club Friday.

 

According to results announced by the election committee, Nasir polled 177 votes to beat his rival Shamim Shahid who had 155. On the other hand, Yousaf got 173 votes for the secretary’s slot, defeating Aneela Shaheen who collected 157.

 

Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah was elected the vice president getting 173 votes against his opposite number Asif Nasir Ghayasi’s 153.

 

Umair Yasir (167) edged Nadir Khawaja (164) for the post of finance secretary while Sohrab Ahmed claimed the position of joint secretary with 181 votes downing Hakim Khan who managed 143.

 

Those elected on the governing body were Khurram Pervez, Mohammad Naeem, Ihtisham Bashir, Mohammad Shahzad, Riaz Anjum, Zeeshan Liaquat, Ihtishamul Haq Toru, Fida Khattak, Asad Khan and Mohammad Ishfaq.
