Kamran Khan joins Geo bitter rival BOL

ISLAMABAD: With Geo Television still reeling from recent troubles comes the news that its heavyweight anchor Kamran Khan has joined rival BOL Media Group as President and Editor-in-Chief.

BOL described Kamran's arrival as "a major milestone for the network which has meticulously acquired a dream-team of highly experienced professionals with decades of experience to their credit."

A BOL Press release quoted Kamran as saying "we are at the brink of revolutionizing the country's media industry...this will herald the beginning of not just a better and stronger media industry but also a new Pakistan."

Kamran who for years hosted a current affairs show Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Sath on Geo TV, announced his decision to quit on his show Thursday.

The Press release said that BOL senior leadership, including Chairman and CEO Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, are immensely delighted to welcome Kamran Khan to the fold. "We have promised Pakistan a revolution and we do not default on our promises," said Shoaib Shaikh, adding that Kamran Khan’s decision to join BOL represents the beginning of the revolution.

Last year in August, Azhar Abbas, the Managing Director at Geo, had joined BOL News as President and CEO.

To rub salt into rival Geo's wounds, there are reports that BOL may hire some more big names from that channel. BOL News is yet to go on air.
