ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police briefly arrested Jaag TV reporter Abid Rahi and thrashed journalists from other media groups Sunday who were covering a protest against load-shedding at Rawal Chowk.
The police baton charged the newsmen and protesters to disperse them from the scene while Rahi was locked up at the Secretariat Police Station.
National Press Club President Shaharyar Khan, political leaders from different parties and members of civil society condemned the incident.
Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said the incident would be probed. The reporter was later released.
