ISLAMABAD – For making fun of recently-appointed Governor Sindh, Justice (Retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui, Express News Television was served a show cause notice by PEMRA Tuesday.
PEMRA said that in the program ‘Khabardar’, host Aftab Iqbal and his team of comedians made fun of the governor’s age and health. The way they did it, was against social and religious norms, it said.
The watchdog said that the conduct of the channel’s management and its editorial committee reflects an irresponsible and unprofessional approach.
The channel has been asked to respond to the notice within seven days and explain why its license not be suspended for this violation of PEMRA laws.
