ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court Monday ordered BOL News to stop airing hateful content forthwith or face contempt of court charges.
The channel’s representative responded quickly, assuring the court the program Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga, hosted by Aamir Liaquat Hussain (pictured) would not be aired until further notice by the court.
The program host, viewers complain, is spreading hate and inciting violence, actions that led to a PEMRA ban on him and his program, followed by a show cause notice for violating that ban. The Sindh High Court had granted stay to BOL soin afterwards.
PEMRA later filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Sindh High Court.
Headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court warned they would consider banning BOL if it did not comply with its orders.
