Supreme Court orders placing Daily Times CEO Shehryar Taseer on no-fly list

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered Daily Times CEO and Publisher Shehryar Taseer’s name be placed on the no-fly list after he failed to pay outstanding staff salaries and dues on time.

Heading a three-member bench Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar censured Taseer over the inordinate delay and ordered that he pay off staff dues at all stations within 15 days.

The court ordered that if the management did not clear the dues within the specified time, the Taseer family’s properties be confiscated to pay the media group’s employees.

On November 6, the Supreme Court served notice on Taseer to appear in person in this case relating to the inordinate delay in payment of staff salaries.

Staff at Daily Times remains unpaid since August.
