Journalists in Lahore protest fake cases against colleagues

LAHORE - Journalists in Lahore Friday staged a protest outside the Punjab Assembly over cases registered by police against 92 News anchor Qaisar Khan and other mediapersons.

92 News reported that the protesters entered the Punjab Assembly premises and staged a sit-in and chanted slogans against the police. The channel, quoting Punjab Union of Journalists' President Shahzad Hussain Butt, said that Okara DPO Rana Faisal was patronizing a rogue SHO. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf held talks with the journalists. Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal Khan has formed a committee comprising Provincial Ministers Sher Ali Khan and Dr Waseem Akhtar to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, journalists also staged a walkout from the Punjab Assembly and demanded immediate sacking of DPO Rana Faisal.
