ISLAMABAD: Sticking to its anti-Jang Group stance, The Express Tribune said Tuesday Geo anchorpersons had changed tone three days after the attack on presenter Hamid Mir.
"After leveling serious allegations against the ISI and its chief Lt. Gen Zaheerul Islam, Jang Group is assuming an increasingly defensive stance and issuing explanations one after the other," the paper said.
The daily noted that Geo anchorpersons' changing tone suggests that the people who were backing them in the beginning have themselves started to give way.
The paper quoted the channel's senior anchor Kamran Khan as saying that army is a prestigious institution and should not be subjected to criticism.
In a separate piece headlined 'Jang Group is maligning institutions', the Tribune quoted Maj. Gen Rashid Qureshi, a former director general of ISPR as saying Jang Group and Geo TV concoct news stories against institutions to seek action against them.
"If investigations prove the allegations against the ISI chief to be false, then Hamid Mir and Ansar Abbasi should be taken to court and prosecuted," he said.
