Join our WhatsApp channelISLAMABAD - The Unification Committee of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) which met here Saturday with M. Ziauddin in the chair has decided to constitute a three-member sub-committee headed by committee member Rahimullah Yousufzai to investigate the alleged irregularities or illegalities in the 2013 PFUJ elections.
Committee members Shahidur Rehman and Khawar Naeem Hashmi will be the other two members of the sub-committee.
The Unification Committee is now requesting members having first- hand knowledge of these alleged irregularities to contact the sub-committee at the earliest with any audio/visual/documentary evidence as well as eyewitness accounts.

The sub-committee will function under the following Clause 1 of the Settlement/Agreement signed by the leadership of the two defunct factions of the PFUJ that had emerged following the disputed 2013 elections:
“To investigate the irregularities or illegalities committed in election process of PFUJ for 2013 and give its finding, fix the responsibility within a period of 120 days. If, the committee due to any reason is unable to complete its work within the given time frame, the same may be enhanced by the consent of the parties."
The findings of the committee will be presented before the next Biennial Delegates Meeting (BDM).
Meanwhile, the Unification Committee has decided to visit Karachi on May 4 and meet tentatively around 3pm on May 5-6 with the karachi Union of Journalists and Karachi Press Club office-bearers as well as senior members and former PFUJ office-bearers stationed in the city.
The Unification Committee has assured the community that the election schedule will be announced after achieving the broadest consensus on Clause 6 of the Settlement/ Agreement according to which the UC ‘shall arrange to hold/conduct the PFUJ elections for 2016 as well as the elections of the UJs across the country.’
All those members who could not attend Saturday’s meeting participated in the deliberations through tele-conferencing.
