ISLAMABAD – The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and National Press Club Thursday rejected the negative social media campaign against senior journalist Iffat Hasan Rizvi.
A meeting led by President RIJU Afzal Butt and NPC head Shakeel Anjum reacted strongly to the campaign and said that a Muslim woman journalist’s news was being a given a political and religious color.
The house decided that in future if baseless accusations were leveled against any journalist including Iffat, the fraternity would not take it lying down.
The meeting called for an immediate end to the ongoing campaign against Iffat.
She reportedly recorded the video of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s comments on the Pakistan Super League in which he called the foreign players phateechar (useless). The video has since gone viral with reports of the journalist getting threats for posting it.
