ISLAMABAD: Pakistani journalists enjoy complete media freedom and can discuss everything under the sun without any pressure, can even criticize the army, the most powerful institution in Pakistan.
Prominent journalists and anchorpersons Javed Chaudhry and Fareeha Idrees (pictured) said this while discussing threats to media freedom and journalists at a workshop in Istanbul, Turkey, www.todayszaman.com reported.
The workshop was organized by Medialog Platform to discuss increasing pressure of Turkish government on journalists.
Chaudhry said Pakistani media has got significant power and can even criticize the army, one of the most powerful institutions in the country.
Citing example of former military dictator General Pervez Musharraf, Fareeha Idrees said that he could not pressure media being the dictator. She also said role of social media can sometimes be very powerful.
