Journalists sensitized on climate change
ISLAMABAD: A media training workshop was organised in Tharparkar, a drought-hit district in Sindh, to sensitise local journalists on issues of climate change.

The workshop was organized by Pakistan Water Partnership, Green Media Initiative and Frozaan, a monthly magazine that exclusively covers environment and climate change.

Afia Salam, moderator of the workshop, told JournalismPakistan.com that local journalists were sensitised on issues of environment and climate change that have hit the district hard in the last couple of years.

“Local journalists got a chance to interact with experts through the workshop and we hope they (the journalists) are now in a better position to highlight climate change-related issues in their respective localities,” she said.

She said the mainstream media has not covered drought and other issues in villages and far-flung areas in the district and the campaign was aimed to mobilize local journalists to cover the under-reported stories.
