Journalists rally for Geo

ISLAMABAD: Journalists across Pakistan Monday rallied in support of Geo Television after its offices came under attack again on Sunday night.

Journalist unions and press clubs in several cities including Lahore, Peshawar and Hyderabad held rallies to show solidarity with the channel in this difficult hour. In Islamabad also journalists and the civil society protested in front of Geo and later the Parliament House.

The Geo offices, close to the Red Zone, were attacked allegedly by PTI and PAT protesters who pelted stones that left the all-glass building damaged.

The News reported Monday that the attackers have struck at least 20 times during the last one week - attacks that also damaged vehicles.

Geo Television Network has been in deep trouble ever since the attack on its presenter Hamid Mir last April. The channel's managers claim it has been more than four months that all their channels are 80 percent off air while the remaining 20 percent have been relegated to the last numbers of the spectrum.
