Islamabad High Court Journalists Association elects office-bearers

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) on Friday elected its office-bearers for a period of one year commencing June 21. Mohammad Awais Khan Yousafzai (pictured) of Geo TV, was elected president unopposed after his opponent Ali Furqan withdrew his nomination papers and another opponent Jahangir Aslam boycotted the elections.

 

The other office-bearers of IHCJA elected are: Zaghum Naqvi (General Secretary, Express TV), Waqar Abbasi (Sr. Vice President, Nawa-i-Waqt), Shahid Ameen Rao (Vice President, The Nation), Shahid Nazir Kahlon (Deputy General Secretary, Daily Al-Sharq), Amir Saeed Abbasi (Secretary Finance, Samaa TV), Mian Muddassar (Information Secretary, APP), and  Zubair Qureshi (Joint Secretary, Pakistan Observer).

 

Four Executive Members of IHCJA were also elected: Asif Naveed (Aaj TV), Raza Bangash (Dawn News), Umar Jatt (Capital TV) and Qazi Bilal (Daily Nai Baat).

 

The Election Committee comprising four journalists - Zaman Mughal, Furqan Rao, Chaudhry Sagheer and Bilal Sheikh - unanimously declared Awais Yousafzai and the cabinet members as elected unopposed. 

 

President National Press Club, Shaharyar Khan, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Afzal Butt, and President Crimes and Court Association of Rawalpindi, Qaiser Sherazi have congratulated the office-bearers.
