Pakistani journalists working for print, broadcast, and online media in any regional language as well as in English and Urdu can submit their entries for Pakistan Data Journalism Awards.
Any news report published between January 1, 2018, and January 31, 2019, can be submitted for the competition.
The awards will be presented in four categories - Best News Investigation of the Year, Best Use of Data in a News Report, Best Data Journalist Portfolio, and Best Data Visualization for News.
The awards aim to encourage data-driven news reporting and investigative journalism in Pakistan.
The contest is being organized by Media Matters for Democracy, media research and advocacy non-profit, through its Media for Transparency initiative, which offers data journalism training courses and promotes the use of Right to Information laws in news reporting.
The jury for the awards comprises Hamid Mir (Geo), Amber Rahim Shamsi (Samaa), Sahar Habib Ghazi (formerly with Global Voices), and Sadaf Khan and Asad Baig (Media Matters for Democracy).
