JACOBABAD: Police beat up a reporter covering a demo here Monday after a camp set up in connection with 12th Raibul Awal caught fire that prompted a protest.
Rajib Ali Soomro fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital, reports said. The policemen quickly disappeared from the scene. Ittehad Ahle-Sunnat who had established the camp thought it was set on fire by anti-social elements.
Members of District Union of Journalists Jacobabad led by their president Ghulam Hiader Magsi have demanded action against the cops involved in beating up the reporter.
They also called for transfer of SSP Jacobabad, Muhammad Yunus Chandio.
