ISLAMABAD: Jewan Arain, a reporter with Dharti News Television was shot dead in Khairpur (Sindh) by gunmen on motorcycles, reports said Thursday.
He was attacked while going to work by unidentified men on motorcycles, journalist union leaders said. Arain was the 10th journalist to be killed in Pakistan this year. Only last month two correspondents - Nadeem Hyder of Daily Dunya and Yaqoob Shehzad of Express News Television - were gunned down in Hafizabad, Punjab.
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) on Thursday protested Arain's killing outside the National Press Club.
The leaders demanded the Sindh government arrest the killers immediately and threatened to protest in front of the Governor Sindh's residence when he visits Islamabad.
