ISLAMABAD – Geo News employees ended their day-long strike late on Monday evening after successful talks with the management over outstanding wages.
The channel’s management agreed to pay the salaries for February by May 22, and those for March before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Outstanding wages for April are likely to be cleared sometime in June or July.
A committee constituted by the employees held talks with the channel’s CEO Mir Ibrahim, and Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, founder and owner of the media group.
Geo staffers across Pakistan had gone on strike on Monday over continual delay in disbursement of wages.
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) organized a protest in front of the Geo offices in Islamabad on Monday to back the workers. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) had called for the rally.
Geo workers had also gone on strike in February over wage delays.
