You know why husbands get into trouble and wives don’t? Because men hesitate. It is in their nature to delay their responses.
There you are sitting at home one evening and your wife says, isn’t that Rowena’s picture in the magazine?
Huh? Rowena who?
Oh come one, Rowena, your ex-girlfriend, the one you had a crush on in Cal, the model, that Rowena.
Roweeeena, hmmmm, let me see, ummmm, looks so old, can hardly remember her.
Really, forgotten you were about to marry her, huh, do you still think of her…you used to send her flowers, you never send me flowers…and it is all downhill from there because the man will mumble and stumble and lie and get all snarled up.
Women are different.
You are sitting at dinner. Who is Sanjay and why does he keep calling our house?
Sanjay, I met him last month at the music festival, you must meet him, very nice guy, you’ll like him, we’ve become good friends.
See, they segue into it without missing a beat. No hesitation at all. Your wicket is a wreck.
I mean, I’d never say you must meet Rowena, I’d duck it, women sail past regally and you end up with a sort of brilliantly fractured comment like, I’d love to meet him.
You would what???
