ISLAMABAD - Fakhar Durrani (pictured, left) of The News Thursday claimed the Right to Information Champions (RTI) Award 2017.

The young journalist used the RTI laws for filing his investigative stories. He won the award in the Journalists Category.

Asif Munawar landed the award in the Citizens’ Category.

The awards were given away by the Coalition on Right to Information at the National Press Club.

According to The News, Durrani, used the law well to report on such issues as the parliamentarians getting medical treatment abroad on taxpayers’ money, Higher Education Commission scholarships and pensions of retired Ministry of Defense employees.
