Shoaib Akhtar resigns from PTV Sports during live transmission

ISLAMABAD—Former Pakistani cricketer and analyst Shoaib Akhtar has resigned during a live cricket show on PTV Sports after the host Dr. Nauman Niaz asked him to 'leave the show' following a 'heated spat.'

Both were part of a panel for the PTV Sports program Game On Hai along with guests including West Indies batting legend Sir Vivian Richards, former England captain David Gower, former Pakistan women's captain Sana Mir, and former fast bowler Umar Gul.

The panel was discussing the Pakistan-New Zealand T20 World Cup match, which Pakistan won by five wickets.

The 'Rawalpindi Express,' Akhtar, who was among the analysts, announced his resignation and walked off after Dr. Niaz called him 'rude' and told him that 'he is free to go if he wants to.'

In a viral clip, the former fast bowler said he had been insulted on live TV by the host in the special show following the Pakistan-New Zealand match in the T20 World Cup.
