ISLAMABAD—Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Friday tabled a resolution in the senate regarding attacks on journalists.

Senator Haideri condemned the assaults on journalists and demanded inquiry reports about the attacks. "The House strongly condemns the attacks on journalists," the resolution draft stated.

The murders, attacks, violence, and kidnappings of journalists are highly worrisome and terrible, the JUI leader commented.

Reportedly, the resolution also called for a fair inquiry into the attacks on journalists, including Absar Alam, Matiullah Jan, and Asad Toor.

Many parliamentarians, including Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari, Chairperson PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Vice President PMLN Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and others have already condemned the recent assault on journalist and blogger Asad Toor.

The JUI resolution is expected to be passed unanimously.
