ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the arrest of editor Mohsin Baig and harassment of his family members by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, President  Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said that arresting an editor was shameful and reeked of the fascist mentality of the ruling elite. "Such arrest without a warrant gives an impression that the country is not ruled by law."

The two leaders demanded a judicial probe into the matter, adding that the journalist should be released immediately.

They asserted that such tactics amounted to curbing media and intimidating journalists.
