PEMRA bans broadcast of two BOL News programs

ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulatory PEMRA has banned broadcast, or re-broadcasts of BOL News programs Ramzan Main BOL and Aisay Nahin Chalay Ga for 30 days.

A PEMRA press release said that in one of the segments of the program named Aalim Kay BOL, Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain took a video call from Gujrat, India wherein the caller questioned about the Caliphate of Hazrat Ali RA. This content was aired live, unedited and without any delay.

The release said that after taking this call, Hussain questioned Dr Zakir Naik, intentionally and unnecessarily maligned the last Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), through such words which any sensible Muslim cannot even think about.

PEMRA pointed out that this act of Dr Liaquat was merely for creating sensation inorder to achieve maximum rating/viewership through unwarranted drama by religion. It hurt the sentiments of different sects and the public at large, the regulator said.
