ISLAMABAD – The electronic media regulator PEMRA Wednesday reminded all satellite television channels and FM Radio licensees not to promote Valentine’s Day.

The regulator quoted an order of the Islamabad High Court passed last year in February in its reminder: “…in the meanwhile, respondents are directed to ensure that nothing about the celebrations of Valentine’s Day and its promotion is spread on the Electronic and Print Media. No event shall be held at official level and at any public place. Chairman, PEMRA is directed to ensure that all the TV channels shall stop the promotion of Valentine Day, forthwith.”

The IHC orders were passed on a writ petition titled ‘Mr. Abdul Waheed vs Federation of Pakistan.’
