National Press Club clarifies its position on press conference

ISLAMABAD - The National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad has condemned the insulting attitude of retired army officers during a recently-held press conference.

In a statement issued by Secretary NPC Raja Khalil Ahmed, the management stated that the venue for holding the press conference was provided at the request of Veterans of Pakistan, the organizers.

"Due to many speakers, it was communicated to the organizers to hold the said press conference outdoors. As many as 100 speakers were interested in addressing the conference, which was not possible indoors due to space limitations."

The NPC management also condemned the speakers for not interacting with journalists in a civilized manner and refusing to answer journalists' questions.

The retired military officers and other participants chanted slogans when journalist Matiullah Jan asked a question. The question and answer session could not be held.
