Journalist Jan Mohammad's murder exposes threats to media personnel

ISLAMABAD—Calling to arrest the killers of slain journalist Jan Mohammad Mahar, activist Jibran Nasir on Monday said land mafias, feudal lords, gang war, political parties, law enforcement agencies, and state institutions were targeting journalists.

"Pakistan remains one of the most dangerous countries for journalists," Jibran added in his tweet while commenting on the death of Mahar, who was shot dead on Sunday evening. The journalist worked for Kawish and KTN News in Sukkur.

Jibran called upon the Sindh police to try to arrest the killers. However, he added: "When those tasked with reporting the truth are not safe than the truth itself is in danger."

Quoting police, Dawn said the journalist received several bullets to his head and near his eyes.
