Arshad Sharif, a respected journalist in Pakistan, was shot dead in Kenya. His death has sparked a nationwide outpouring of grief and demands for an investigation.

ISLAMABAD— Pakistan is in mourning following the tragic death of renowned anchorperson and senior journalist, Arshad Sharif, who was shot and killed in Kenya. The Kenyan local police have initiated an investigation into the incident, which has left the nation in shock and grief.

Sharif's wife, Javeria Siddique, confirmed his death in a tweet, saying, "I lost my friend, husband, and my favourite journalist @arsched today. As per police, he was shot in Kenya." She requested the public and media to refrain from speculation and spreading rumors regarding his death, emphasizing the need for respect and sensitivity during this difficult time.

Asim Iftikhar, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, stated that Pakistan's High Commission in Kenya is actively gathering information from the authorities. However, no further details have been revealed regarding the circumstances of Sharif's murder. The uncertainty surrounding his death has deepened the sorrow and heightened the call for a thorough investigation.
