Indian photojournalist Danish Siddique killed in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR—An Indian photojournalist has lost his life during clashes in Spin Boldak district in Kandahar, Tolo News reported.

Danish Siddique, associated with Reuters, was performing his professional duties in Kandahar over the last few days. “He was killed while he was on a reporting assignment embedded with the Afghan Special Forces,” India Today said.

Siddique started his career as a television news correspondent, switched to photojournalism, and joined Reuters as an intern in 2010. Earlier based in Mumbai, he had received the Pulitzer Prize as part of the photography staff of Reuters.

Danish graduated with a degree in economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. He had a degree in Mass Communication from the AJK Mass Communication Research Center at Jamia in 2007.
