ISLAMABAD—PTI chairman and ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan has categorically stated that "no journalist, during his tenure, was detained on his instructions," emphasizing that the problem was something else."
While addressing a seminar organized by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) in Islamabad, Khan quoted the example of the UK and stated that "...there is a severe punishment for character assassination in the UK and west."
"Fake news is in fact creating problems for us, and fake news was spread against many of my ministers."
"When I became the Prime Minister, I was not afraid of the media. I never took any action on media. As prime minister, no journalist was ever picked on my instructions."
However, he admitted that: "Once I was in a cabinet meeting and came to know that a journalist had been kidnapped."
Chairman PTI said: "I spoke to COAS General Bajwa many times regarding missing persons."
