ISLAMABAD—Geo News has decided to issue a damages notice to former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry for making baseless allegations.

According to a news published in Jang on Friday, the spokesperson for Geo News said that the former information minister introduced the controversial PECA during his tenure, having six-month imprisonment for forwarding a WhatsApp message. The accused would be detained without a warrant and bail.

However, Geo News has decided to send a notice of damages for baseless allegations against journalists of several media organizations, including Geo News.

Chaudhry had said in a tweet on June 19 that he believed that journalist organizations should investigate these 14 journalists. According to him, mainstream anchors of Geo News were among those advising the current government.
