ISLAMABAD - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday said the official media had given more coverage to the opposition than the private media.

He claimed during the Question Hour in the National Assembly when asked about “low coverage…given to members belonging to opposition on Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan.” Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal MNA Moulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali had asked the question.

The minister maintained that the government had lifted all restrictions on the coverage of opposition on official media. Since lifting the restriction on the coverage of opposition, all political parties are covered by news value, he added.

“It would not be an exaggeration that official media has given more coverage to the opposition than the private media.”
