KARACH—Many journalists, including Dharti TV crew, were reportedly mistreated by local authorities on the first day of the new lockdown imposed in the province, the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) said.
Condemning the incidents of violence against journalists, the KUJ stated that various journalists, including reporters, photojournalists, and camerapersons, faced difficulties in performing their professional duties.
Dharti TV crew, comprising reporter Imdad Soomro and a cameraperson, were on the way to a local market from Karachi Press Club. They were stopped and mistreated by police, the KUJ highlighted in its statement.
KUJ has asked additional IG Karachi to take action against police personnel across the city involved in targeting journalists during the COVID-19 lockdown.
