I have always wondered why I feel tired all the time. Was it age creeping up stealthily while I wasn’t looking? A friend of mine has me this very clever mathematical self-sell which kind of explains why you and I feel so martyred to the cause. No clue who is the original author but it makes so much sense.
It is especially for those of us who believe we are doing most of the work in this world while others goof around, especially in office.
For a couple years I’ve been blaming my foul moods on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job but now I found out the real reason: Damn it, I knew it. I’m tired because I’m overworked.
The population of this world of ours is 6 billion with 1.2 billion retired.
That leaves 4.8 billion to do the work.
There are 1.5 billion in school, which leaves 3.3 billion to do the work.
Of this there are 1.4 billion employed by the governments of the world which leave 1.9 billion.
Of that half a billion are in the Armed Forces, which leaves to 1.4 billion to do the work.
Of that number point 4 billion are on leave. That leaves 1 billion.
Point 3 billion are unemployed, which leaves point seven billion.
At any given time there are .2 billion in hospital, leaving 500 million people to do all the work. Of which 450 million are babies.
That leaves 50 million to do the work. Now, there are 49,99,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work- you and me.
And you’re reading the article here…get outta here.
Which leaves only me to take on the world.
No wonder I am glum. Wouldn’t you be if you had to handle everything? The least you can do is stop reading the article and half my sense of responsibility. How long can a man do it all by himself? Don’t you people understand my problem? Why are you all so unreasonable, huh? Tell me.
(The writer is a Senior Editorial Advisor of Khaleej Times and the paper’s former Editor. He has also been the Editor of Gulf News, Gulf Today, Emirates Today and Bahrain Tribune)
If my call is so important to them, why don’t they answer it for 22 minutes?
How come when I want to, but something specific online is the only item out of stock.
When I get into a queue or lane going fast, the moment I get in, it becomes the slowest and refuses to budge.
