Ataul Musawwir Pirzada named editor of The News on Sunday

LAHORE — Jang Group has appointed Ataul Musawwir Prizada as the editor of The News on Sunday.

He is a journalist with extensive experience and takes over at the start of July, replacing Farah Zia who resigned in April after almost 12 years.

In an eventful career, Prizada worked in various editorial positions at The Frontier Post, The Nation, Dawn, Daily Times, The Express Tribune, and 92 News Television.

He studied at the University of the Punjab, Lahore, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, University besides others.

He also taught journalism at the Beaconhouse National Univesity and is a former president of Punjab Union of Journalists and a member of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Lahore Press Club.

During his career, he served in such positions as city editor, chief news editor, coordinating editor, and senior sub-editor.

He also trained the 92 News team after being initially hired to head a team for the group’s planned English language newspaper. However, after the paper got delayed, Pirzada trained the tickers team and the copy desk.
