Iftikhar Chaudhry files complaint with PCP against Daily Dunya

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry (pictured) has filed a complaint with Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) against Daily Dunya, seeking an unconditional apology from the publisher or a contradiction about a photo published in the newspaper on July 2.

The newspaper published a story along with a photograph of Chaudhry’s son, Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, and super model Ayan Ali, saying both of them traveled together to Monte Carlo in 2010.

Earlier, Chaudhry had served a legal notice on Mian Aamir Mahmood, Publisher and Printer/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Dunya and Arshad Raheem Lone, Islamabad editor of the paper.

The complaint with the Press Council maintains that a notice was sent to the respondents on July 13 but despite a lapse of more than 15 days as required under the Press Council of Pakistan Ordinance, no response was received.

The former Chief Justice says in the complaint that the respondents should be directed to publish a contradiction about the news item or tender an unconditional apology on the newspaper's front page.
