Four former Daily Times staffers get arrears after two years of litigation
ISLAMABAD: Four former staffers of Daily Times have received their pending dues amounting to Rs0.7 million after two years of litigation.

The paper’s management owed Rs100,000 to Arsalan Altaf, Rs120,000 to Riazul Haq, Rs120,000 to Mansoor Sadiq and Rs360,000 to Javed Iqbal.

The salaries of these staffers were not cleared when they left the paper or were laid off by the management.

All the four sub-editors filed a case in Islamabad’s labour court in 2013 through lawyer Aamira Batool and won it after two years of hectic litigation.

The paper’s management has now paid all outstanding dues to the litigants in two installments.

“Our salary that was to be paid in 2011 is paid in 2015 …. and we’re happy to win the case,” Altaf told JournalismPakistan.com.

Dozens of other former staffers of the paper are still struggling to get their dues and salaries.
