ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notices to several media groups for not paying salaries to staff.
Heading a three-member bench, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar also issued a notice to the federation for not implementing the service structure and seventh wage board award.
The media groups served notices are ARY News, Nawa-i-Waqt, BOL News, Geo, Capital TV, Channel 7, Channel 5, Pak TV, Star Asia and Khabrain.
The court also summoned record of journalists’ cases pending before the labor courts and tribunals. The hearing was adjourned until October 17.
The case relates to outstanding salaries to journalists of print and electronic media.
