ISLAMABAD – The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists Saturday called on the government to immediately quash a FIR the Intelligence Bureau got registered against ARY News anchor Arshad Sharif.
In a hurriedly called meeting chaired by RIUJ President Mubarak Zeb Khan (pictured, right), the house demanded that a judicial commission headed by a justice of the high court be constituted to probe the matter.
Sharif is at the heart of an explosive story he aired in his show Power Play on September 25 and 27. It relates to an IB report that lists 37 parliamentarians suspected of having links with militant organizations.
The IB claims the story aired was fabricated and Sharif displayed a fake document, an allegation Sharif denied.
The meeting was also attended by Afzal Butt (pictured, left), President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), RIUJ office-bearers and senior journalists.
