ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has expressed concern over the arrest of journalist and vlogger Imran Riaz Khan.
In a statement, PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said there is an impression in sections of society that the government is trying to stifle the voices of those who oppose its policy. “It is also widely believed that the government is targeting media persons who are considered supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf. Such impression should be dispelled and the government should not be seen targeting a certain section of the journalist fraternity.”
The two leaders demanded that the government not ignore the due course of law and provide Khan an opportunity to defend himself.
