ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the beating up by police of a photojournalist covering the ongoing teachers’ protest in Rawalpindi.
Senior photojournalist Faisal Khan, associated with Daily Ausaf, was baton-charged by Punjab police. He is seen bleeding profusely from the head in a video clip circulating on social media.
In a statement, the President of PFUJ, Afzal Butt, condemned the incident and urged Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi to take action.
“PFUJ strongly condemns Rawalpindi police torture of photojournalist Faisal Khan who was covering teachers’ demonstration. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi must take immediate notice of the incident,” Butt tweeted.
