ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Sukkur-based journalist Ajay Laalwani, shot dead by unknown assailants when he was at a barbershop.
Union President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said that brutalities, high-handedness and harassment against the journalist community had risen sharply in all the provinces. However, they pointed out that Sindh, where the People’s Party is ruling since 2008, had failed to act against those committing crimes against journalists.
The union leaders demanded the immediate arrest of journalists’ killers and stringent security for media workers in Sindh and other provinces as it is the responsibility of the federal and provincial governments to protect the media.
